Student A's teacher has been verbally working with him to recognize small problems and sort them out while they are still 'small' instead of turning them into something huge. To try and help her and Student A I developed a step-by-step visual emotion chart for him to use when he begins to feel upset. The reason for the different emotions at the top is to help him recognize, by himself, how he is feeling. His classroom teacher has already provided a 'safe' place for him to go to when he needs time out. This chart is designed to be used with the teacher initially, and hopefully progress to Student A being able to recognize these feelings independently and working through the steps until he feels better.
